Mexican Food in Fayetteville, AR

Street tacos, family favorites, and a market for meals at home.
Some days you want a meal made for you; other days you want the ingredients to cook one yourself. At Casa Jovero Market & Taquería, our taquería and Latin market serve both needs. Choose Mexican food to eat here or take home, then browse meat, groceries, and drinks for another meal.

What We Offer

Our taquería serves ready-to-eat meals, while the market carries food and drinks for the meals you plan to make yourself.

An almost completely black, low-light scene with faint, indistinct upright silhouettes across the frame, creating a quiet, ominous mood.

Taquería Favorites

Try our street tacos, quesabirria, and other Mexican dishes for a casual meal here or a flavorful order to go.

A nearly black image with two faint, rough oval outlines—one partly cropped at left and a larger one on the right—creating an obscure, shadowy mood.

Tamales and Pozole

Our tamales are a guest favorite and one of the dishes we are known for. Made with care and full of flavor, ask what is ready when you visit, including pozole and other comforting dishes.

A nearly black image with faint, indistinct outlines and scattered marks near the center, creating a dark, mysterious scene that is hard to discern.

Meat Market

Pick up meat for a meal you plan to cook at home, and shop before or after you eat.

Against a nearly black background, faint outlines of two wine glasses sit side by side, creating a dim, quiet, and mysterious mood.

Groceries and Drinks

Look for items to bring home, add a glass-bottle Mexican Coke to your meal, or browse our other drinks. Beer is also available for eligible customers.

Taquería Favorites

Street Tacos

Street tacos focus on the filling and flavor of each bite, and they fit a lunch break or the start of a relaxed dinner. You can eat them here while they are fresh or order them to go when you need to get home. Our team can help you find an option you’ll like.

Choose a familiar favorite or ask about another menu option. Street tacos leave room for everyone at the table to pick what appeals to them, so you can make a meal of your own choices instead of settling on one dish for the group.

Quesabirria and More

Quesabirria gives you a different taco-style meal by bringing the savory flavor of slow-cooked, seasoned birria together with cheese. It makes a filling lunch or dinner when you want something rich and warm. Ask if it is available when you visit, especially if that’s why you are stopping by.

You can dine in when you have time to stay or take food home for yourself or someone else. If you usually order street tacos, quesabirria gives you a chance to try a different balance of flavors without leaving the taquería menu.

A small roadside store with a red roof and “Casa Jovero Market” sign sits beside a quiet paved lot; bright daylight gives the scene a still, rural feel.

Tamales and Pozole

Tamales Made With Care

Tamales are one of the dishes our guests talk about most, and a traditional tamale starts with masa and a filling, wrapped and steamed until ready to eat. That method takes care and time, and the result is a warm, flavorful food that works for lunch, dinner, or a meal shared at home. Our tamales have become a guest favorite for their flavor and traditional feel.

Ask what kinds of tamales are ready before you choose, since availability can vary. You might have one alongside another dish, take a few home for dinner, or pick some up for the people you are eating with. If tamales are your main reason for visiting, check with our team about the current selection so you can plan around what we have that day.

A Warm Bowl of Pozole

Pozole offers something different from food you can hold in your hand, since this Mexican soup is made with hominy (corn) and a seasoned broth. Its rich, warm character makes it a good choice when you want to sit down to a bowl of food.

Ask whether pozole is available when you visit and what other warm dishes we are serving. Hominy gives the soup its distinct texture, while the broth and seasonings make each spoonful feel like a full meal. If you are trying pozole for the first time, ask about the broth’s flavors and how it is served that day.

Meat Market

Our meat market gives you a place to find the main part of a meal you want to cook at home, whether you stop in to shop or browse while your taquería order is prepared. If you have a recipe in mind, look for the meat it calls for and ask about the cuts we have that day. The selection may change, so checking before you plan a meal around one item can save a second trip.

You can also start without a recipe by looking at the meat available, thinking about how many people you will feed, and choosing a dish that suits what you find. Once you have the main part of dinner, browse the groceries for anything else you need. A visit can help you plan a family meal, pick up meat for a new recipe later this week, or act on a dinner idea that came to mind while you were here. Our team can answer questions about the current selection as you choose.

Groceries and Drinks

Groceries for Your Kitchen

Browse the market for items you can use with a meal you plan to cook, and since stock can change, ask about a particular item before counting on finding it. The shelves can also help you choose something to serve with dinner or keep for later in the week.

Take time to look, and ask our team if you need help finding something. A few items from the shelves may help you finish a meal you already planned, or they may give you an idea for what to cook next. If an ingredient is new to you, ask our team what it is and how you might use it. You may find a new recipe idea.

Drinks and Beer

Choose a drink to enjoy with your food or take with you, such as a glass-bottle Mexican Coke, and browse the other drinks available in the market. Ask about the current selection when you stop in.

Beer is also available for eligible customers. You can choose a drink for a meal here, add one to an order to go, or pick something up during a market visit.

Why Guests Use Both Sides of Our Shop

The taquería takes care of a meal you want prepared now, while the market gives you options for food you will make later.

Eat here or take food home when you want a cooked meal without making it yourself.

Try a different dish by asking about tacos, quesabirria, tamales, or pozole.

Shop for another meal, plus meat, groceries, and drinks, at the market.

Ask about current choices so you can plan around the food and stock available that day.

I can’t speak for everything on the menu, but I just ordered a burrito and a torta to go both with chicken. These items exceeded my expectations. They were delicious. Everything tasted fresh. The inside of the store is clean and the staff was very friendly. This place is a little hidden they could use better signage, but I think it’s a great little spot.

Potential pricing and tax compliance issues. Please read before purchasing. This review is based on receipt evidence, measurements, and Arkansas tax law, not opinion. Key Issues: 1. Misclassified Taxes Items that are legally groceries (raw carne asada sold by the pound, tortillas, chips, take-home rice/beans) were taxed simultaneously as groceries AND restaurant food. As of January 1, 2026, Arkansas eliminated the state grocery tax, and grocery items cannot also be taxed as restaurant meals. My receipt shows: • Restaurant tax • General sales tax • Grocery sales tax applied together to the same transaction, which is not permitted. This appears to be a POS or compliance error, but the customer pays for it. ⸻ 2. Portion Size vs Representation • Rice and beans sold as a “pint” are not pint-sized containers. • Guacamole sold as 8 oz weighed under 8 oz total including the container. • Chips + guacamole totaled $11 for a noticeably smaller portion than nearby taco trucks offering larger servings for ~$8. The chips are covered in oil and grease; causing serious stomach aches and gastrointestinal issues, which I never have in anywhere else with chips. ⸻ 3. Undisclosed Fees A separate credit card processing fee was added on top of already stacked taxes, without clear disclosure. ⸻ 4. Environment The atmosphere was uncomfortable and unwelcoming, making it difficult to browse or remain inside. ⸻ Bottom Line: • Pricing does not align with portion size • Taxes appear incorrectly applied under current Arkansas law • Customers may be overcharged due to misclassification • Better value and clearer pricing exist nearby I recommend customers review their receipt carefully before assuming prices are accurate. UPDATE (response to owner reply): The owner’s response confirms exactly why I wrote this review. Instead of addressing the fact that my receipt shows an illegally charged grocery tax, they tried to justify it and spin it like I’m the problem. That’s not “clarifying inaccuracies” — that’s defending an overcharge while trying to make the customer look like the bad guy for noticing. They also said they “prefer to cater to the quality over quantity crowd,” which is laughable considering the “quality” I was sold. The chips were so greasy they were basically inedible. That’s not “quality” — that’s either used grease, too much grease, or no standards. So no, this isn’t “quality over quantity.” This is nickel-and-dime pricing with smaller portions and lower standards. Then they referred to my service dog as a “large pet” and blamed other patrons being uncomfortable. So I’m the bad guy because I walked in with a service dog, other people didn’t like it, and the business sided with them? My bad — I guess I should’ve just left my service dog at home… like that’s my choice. My bad I had to literally turn my back to everyone because people were just staring. Like that’s my fault too. Bottom line: this place is overpriced and nickel-and-dime. The credit card fee was not clearly disclosed upfront, unlike other Hispanic markets where it’s clearly posted. And you can absolutely find cheaper Hispanic food with better quality and bigger portions nearby without the attitude, the greasy food, and the receipt games. Bless your heart. Receipts don’t lie.
